The afternoon sun was muted by the overhead clouds above Times Square, its golden rays dimmed but the beauty of the city remained. From the steps of the TKTS booth, the cross dedicated to Francis Duffy was visible, a reminder of the sacrifices he and many others had made to keep the city safe.

The moment seemed frozen in time, the billboards and neon lights suspended in a world between day and night. The air was crisp and chilly, evidenced by the thick coats and hats worn by the commuters scurrying past. The sounds of 7th Avenue traffic — the honking horns, revving engines, and ever-present siren song — seemed to hang in the air, a perpetual aural reminder of the city's hustle and bustle, never sleeping or slowing down.

Skeeze paused for a moment to take in the sight. He knew this was a special place, a crossroads of humanity, a meeting point of so many different stories and cultures. He felt the importance of this moment; it was an invitation to be part of something bigger than himself, a unique opportunity to reinvent his life. Taking in a deep breath, he squared his shoulders and started down the steps, ready to face whatever the city had in store for him.
